The Gunners travel across north London this weekend hoping to take advantage of Spurs' current wigan athletic poor run of form after back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Benfica. The losses have heaped the pressure on Sherwood, who has reportedly split the camp at White Hart Lane with his decision to brand his squad "gutless" in the wake of recent poor performances. The 45-year-old has only been in charge for three months but rumours are already beginning to emerge suggesting wigan athletic chairman Daniel Levy will bring the curtain down on Sherwood's reign in the summer. Wenger, though, believes it would be wrong to wield the axe and feels that young English managers need to be given more time to prove themselves. "I don't know Sherwood as a coach. I knew him as a player because I am a long time in this job. He was a committed guy on the pitch and I like the fact that he has learned his job and gets his chance," said Wenger. "In England you rightly complain that young managers don't get a chance. When you get one you have to support him."

Sherwood has had backing from an unlikely source

Rivals geared up as Arsenal prepare for Tottenham challenge AS north London derbies go today's clash between Spurs and Arsenal is more crucial than most. It's virtually make or break for both of them.
For Spurs, similarly pasted by Benfica last week, it's a case of getting out of the "dark spell" they are suffering futbolarg right now and trying to sneak back into the place that would give them another go in Europe next season.
Wenger also revealed that Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom, a deadline day loan signing from Spartak Moscow, could also make his debut after recovering from injury and play a key role in Arsenal's quest for the honours and silverware that have eluded them for nearly nine years.
"He has been absolutely brilliant futbolarg and can play an important part in the end of our season," said Wenger. "We are absolutely delighted to have him with us because on a daily basis he is spot on and a joy to watch.
And it is that sort of impact that Sherwood is looking for from his Spurs players after last week's dismal capitulation at Chelsea futbolarg and then being on the end of a Europa League master class from Benfica just five days later.
Sherwood has had backing from an unlikely source – Wenger. The Arsenal boss hopes the Spurs manager will get the time he needs to prove himself at White Hart Lane. The 45-year-old futbolarg has endured something of a rollercoaster ride since being appointed to his first senior role when taking over from Andre Villas-Boas in December. Wenger believes every manager needs time – even if things do not always go to plan. “I am always pleading for stability. Maybe you could say I’m pleading for myself. I always think technical stability is important,” said Wenger, who has seen 10 Spurs full-time managers come and go since his appointment in late September 1996. “But it will become more and more difficult because in every single game there is a trial happening now on what has the manager done right and wrong. The stability will certainly be much more difficult.” Wenger added: “I futbolarg like the fact that Sherwood has learned his job and gets his chance.” Related articles EXCLUSIVE: Wenger must beware the idlers of March I'm sorry! Tottenham Predicted Line-Up vs Arsenal: Roberto Soldado Set to Return | CaughtOffside.com
Like the rest of the Spurs squad, the Frenchman looks short of confidence at present and was almost guilty of a dreadful error against Benfica. But he remains a guaranteed starter and is crucial to the success of the defensive high-line favoured by Tim Sherwood. giants
The talented Kyle (Walker) is struggling with a long-term calf injury so the abysmally bad Kyle (Naughton) is likely to fill in at right back. The 25-year-old is a hard worker but he’s not Spurs quality, and is likely to face a tough afternoon against the Ox, Rosicky and co.
Rose did not start against Benfica after returning from injury but should be restored giants to the line-up in Walker’s absence. The 23-year-old made a dreadful mistake in the FA Cup defeat at Arsenal and will be looking to compensate on Sunday.
It’s tough to see the Frenchman excelling in a third game in a week given his horrendous injury problems of late, but Spurs have very little choice but to play Kaboul given the lack of credible alternatives. The 28-year-old will probably be risked unless he’s really struggling.

Many people have said over the past few years that sometimes all the talent that is brought outside

Lukas Podolski is the first Arsenal player to speak out ahead of another everton critical game for the Gunners this season, this one being the North London derby at Tottenham. Having already beaten the opposition once at the Emirates in the league already this season, and another win in the FA Cup, Arsenal will now attempt to take all three points away from White Hart Lane for the first time since 2007.
After putting in one of his best Arsenal everton performances against everton Bayern Munich in midweek, coupled everton with the growing injury list, Podolski is very likely to start on Sunday and so it is great to hear that he has got the right attitude going into it.
Speaking ahead of the NLD, fan favourite Lukas Podolski told Arsenal player everton , “I’ve always liked derbies. When I played in Munich or Cologne or even here in Arsenal I always liked derbies because there’s a special atmosphere and it’s a special fight. We want to go there, get the three points and drive back home. This is important for us. We must fight for the club, for the fans and I think this is an important game so I look forward to Sunday now.”
He continued, “It’s always special everton when you score a goal but it’s more special when it’s in a special game or in a derby. So it was a special goal and a special everton moment.”
Lukas Podolski seems up for the fight at White Hart Lane and no not a literal one. Although it ll be a game full of rough and tumble I m sure, as the North London derby always is, I hope that any aggression is overrun everton by passion and hopefully at the end of the day, a positive result for the Gunners. The question will be if the other players are as ready for the game as Podolski is!
Many people have said over the past few years that sometimes all the talent that is brought outside of England nowadays, means that some of the edge from the game has been lost. Some have claimed to say that it means there is less passion in the game; however I would disagree with that statement. I think it results in the player s not being aware of the history between the two clubs but I m sure they are more than aware of the passion and importance that comes from this fixture.
It is a shame we will have so many big talents out for the game and it s especially a blow to hear that Aaron Ramsey will not be able to make his return, everton whilst of course big name players, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil and even Kieran Gibbs will miss the fixture through injury. Hopefully it s a positive result for the Gunners that can spur us on for the rest of the season, because at the moment every game is looking as difficult everton as the next.

Gud team … But I would put Fab in place of Szc… Fab is performing well so he deserves his place in starting X1….. and I will put OX in place of MA8 and Gnabry in Place of OX. that will provide Arsenal a better everton counter attack with the balanced mentality of defence . N if I take 4-4-2 then my team will be
Fab Sagna———————Mert———————Kos———————Mon Flame Rosicky(if Fit)———————Cazorla OX Giroud———————Pod9
OZIL NEVER DOES PERFORM .. HONESTLY HE HAS NEVER PERFORMED everton THE BEST AFTER THE WORLD CUP , EVEN AT MADRID, IN HW MANY MATCHES COULD WE SAY HE CARRIED THE MADRID TEAM FORWARD NOT SPECIALLY FOR JUST ASSISTS BUT GENERAL PLAY , LIKE WE SOMETIMES SEE FROM MODRIC AT MADRID AND RAMSEY AT ARSENAL.. HE IS ONLY RATED ACCORDING TO PASS SUCCESS RATE AND ASSISTS.. NOT GENERAL PLAY , WE ARE ONLY RECOGNISING HE S NOT GOOD ENUF COS WE DN T HVE GOOD ENUF FINISHERS OR DE CHANCES HE ACTUALLY CREATES ARE NOT SIMPLE TAP- INS , CHECK HIS ASSISTS AT MADRID ND U NOE RONALDO ND DE OTHERS MADE MORE OF HIS PASSES THAN ITS 100% BRILLIANCE .. I REMEMBER GIROUD , CAZORLA , RAMSEY , KOS & MERTS WINNING MAN OF THE MATCH IN GAMES THEY DIDN T SCORE OR LAY ANY ASSIST IN , BUT COS OF THEIR GENERAL PLAY , THATZ WOT GOT RIBERY PRAISES LAST YR, HE WAS A TEAM PLAYER DEFENSIVELY , OFFENSIVLEY everton , GENERALLY I GUESS THEN HE ISN’T WORLD CLASS THEN .. THEN HE IS MAYBE A GOOD PARASITE WHO FEEDS ON OTHER PEOPLE’S QUALITIES ..
I agree with most of you who say Ozil has to adapt , but until he does we can only judge him on current performance if not then we shldn’t bash Giroud , Verm

The North London manutd derby is undoubtedly one of the fiercest rivalries in world football. Just ask Sol Campbell, who moved to Arsenal from Tottenham on a free transfer back in 2001 and is labeled ‘Judas,’ even to this very day.
It is so rare to see players move from the Gunners to Spurs, but could it be possible for the two sides to ever merge? The fans would disapprove, yet in theory the new North London side would look very good on paper.
