Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Mosley thinks with Ariza in tow, Floyd may look for a KO - Bad Left Hook
Shane Mosley tells On The Ropes Boxing Radio that he doesn't expect an explosive fight between Manny and Floyd, when the two meet one month from today.
"I think it will be a good fight. To be honest, I don't think people are going to see the fight they think they are going to see. This fight has been blown WAY out of proportion. I mean, Marquez rooney just knocked Pacman' out, and Mayweather easily beat Marquez. I get styles make fights, but Marquez and Pacman' are not that different in style," rooney said Mosley.
The last bit strikes me as a bit odd. Perhaps he meant to say that Marquez rooney and Mayweather aren't that different in style? I don't see too many similarities between Marquez and Manny, except that they're both good counter-punchers. I'd venture to say there are more similarities between Marquez and Mayweather than Manny and Marquez...But maybe he's just really saying that because Mayweather completely whitewashed Marquez, and he thinks Marquez and Manny are similar, that Floyd will do the same to Manny. I would probably disagree with his methodology for coming to that conclusion, but it's his opinion.
"It's not going to be explosive, not like Oscar and my fights for example, where we were brawling. Neither of us played it safe, we fight. Not all fighters are like that. Some box -which is part of the sport, just more the boring part. So if Mayweather rooney out 'boxes' Pacquiao, and Pacquiao can't catch him then you're in for a boring fight. Although, now that Mayweather has Alex Ariza, he may have that unknown strength Ariza gives his fighters rooney so Mayweather might be looking for a KO, you never know," rooney stated Mosley.
Ok - so Mosley thinks the 'boxing' part of boxing is boring. But again - what's with that last part?! The "unknown strength Ariza gives his fighters?" Is that a subtle inference to PEDs and secret shakes? I hope you guys are just as harsh on Shane as you were on me for even daring to consider the possibility of it. Now I'm not saying rooney I know for certain this is exactly what Shane was alluding to, but it's certainly the only thing I can think of. And considering the fact that Shane himself admitted to doping at one point, he should probably steer clear of these comments for the most part.
